The 13th Forum for the Development of Mazovia was held on 14-15 November 2023 in Warsaw, with Dr Agnieszka Łukasiewicz from the Road and Bridge Research Institute actively participating. Organised by the Mazovian Unit for the Implementation of European Union Programmes, the event attracted more than 70 experts and 53 organisations, with 1,400 attendees present in-person and an additional 5,800 online viewers.
During the forum, Dr Łukasiewicz presented two major European projects, namely RAIL4CITIES and FutuRe, both supported by the Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking programme.
As a member of the RAIL4CITIES consortium, the Road and Bridge Research Institute actively contributes to these projects. Its collaboration with the Polish State Railways (PKP S.A.) initiative in research and development has secured funding to promote Polish scientific research on the international stage.
The RAIL4CITIES project aims to strengthen the role of railways and stations in urban transport systems, with a specific case study focused on the Tomaszów Mazowiecki railway station in Poland. This initiative seeks to develop a station layout model which optimally meets the needs of its users.
The Mazovia Development Forum also provided a platform to present the winners of the European Funds Change Leader competition, highlighting innovative projects contributing to the region’s development.
